We kicked off our #StigmaFreeTXST campaign in May for National Mental Health Awareness Month. Our goal? Destigmatize mental health and highlight resources available to employees so that they can foster their own mental well-being as well as those around them.

In case you missed it, here’s a quick glance at the different resources available to you:
- In May, we spoke with Work Life coordinator Rose Trevino about the various Work Life programs that Texas State has to offer. WellCats is an employee wellness program that offers wellness coaching, group exercise classes, and other wellness resources. As well, Bobcat Balance is an employee assistance program give employees access to free counseling services, webinars, and other helpful services to sustain a healthy work life balance. - In June, we covered the resources available to you through HealthSelect of Texas. These services include Mental Health Virtual Visits, the Care Management Program. Check out the Health Select of Texas website for more information.
- In July, we spoke with Officer Kendra Marsteller, the mental health officer for TXST UPD. She is committed to addressing the stigma associated with mental health alongside Therapy Dog Pawfficer Brady.
- In August, we had a Q&A with Dr. Richard A. Martinez from the Texas State Counseling Center about the importance of maintaining a #StigmaFreeTXST and the different services that the Counseling Center has to offer.
- In September, we spoke to Gilbert Lopez about Therapy Assistance Online. Therapy Assistance Online (TAO) is a digital tool available to all Texas State University students and employees. TAO gives you access to resources to help with anxiety, depression, and other issues that may be impacting your mental well-being. To round out our #StigmaFreeTXST campaign, Texas State is hosting a 5K in observance of World Mental Health Day on Monday, October 10. This free event is open to staff, faculty, students, and community members. For more information and to register for the event go to the Office of Human Resources website.
