This month, we’re celebrating Ashtyn Davis, Residence Hall Director in the Department of Housing and Residential Life (DHRL), for her outstanding leadership, service, and commitment to the Texas State community. Ashtyn’s role is as dynamic as it is demanding, and she manages it with precision, heart, and an unshakable sense of purpose.
As the driving force behind Conference Housing Services, Ashtyn coordinates summer housing for a wide range of campus guests, from youth camps to academic conferences. Her attention to detail, responsiveness, and calm under pressure help ensure that every visitor experiences the warm hospitality Texas State is known for. This summer, she streamlined multiple workflows that made check-ins faster, room assignments smoother, and team communication more efficient. When challenges arise, Ashtyn is the first to step in with a steady hand and a solutions-focused mindset.
But her impact goes beyond logistics. Ashtyn leads with empathy, building genuine connections with camp coordinators, student workers, and campus partners alike. Her professionalism and kindness help foster a culture of teamwork and trust. Whether she’s staying late to resolve a facilities issue or mentoring new staff, she exemplifies what it means to serve with both competence and care.
Ashtyn also embodies Texas State’s spirit of lifelong learning and inclusivity. She is a certified bilingual volunteer crisis counselor, allowing her to support students and guests in both English and Spanish. She is also pursuing Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) certification and learning American Sign Language, demonstrating her commitment to safety, accessibility, and inclusion. These efforts reflect her belief that quality service means meeting every person where they are, with understanding, respect, and compassion.
When asked what she enjoys most about her work, Ashtyn shared that it is the daily impact she has on students, from helping them navigate campus life to being a steady presence through personal challenges. She is also proud of organizing this year’s Butler Boo Bash, which saw a 68% increase in attendance and brought new residents into the community.
Outside of work, you can find Ashtyn enjoying the outdoors with her lab, Timber, or unwinding with her Nintendo Switch. Her balance of dedication, warmth, and drive makes her a shining example of what it means to be a Bobcat.
Congratulations, Ashtyn, on being named Texas State’s August 2025 Employee of the Month! Your service, compassion, and leadership make a lasting difference every day.
