We are excited to announce Jake Sloan, IT Project Coordinator in the Mobile/Web Systems department, as our April 2024 Employee of the Month. Jake has consistently demonstrated exceptional project management, technical expertise, and a collaborative spirit that has significantly impacted his team and the university.
Recently, Jake led the successful migration of over 50 applications from Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 to a new Kubernetes cluster or Red Hat 8. His meticulous planning and documentation ensured a smooth transition with minimal disruption for end users. Additionally, Jake played a key role in standardizing department system diagrams, collaborating with the systems lead to streamline processes and improve internal documentation, making these critical resources more accessible to the team.
Jake’s is revered for his ability to balance multiple projects while maintaining a high standard of quality. Amid university-wide organizational changes, he extended support to the University College, the Division of Inclusive Excellence, and the Gato team, guiding them through transitions with patience and a helpful attitude. His colleagues have praised his project coordination skills, particularly his management of Qualtrics testing and system upgrades, and his enthusiastic approach to new challenges.

His respectful, solutions-driven approach when working with end users and cross-departmental teams further highlights his dedication.
