John’s dedication to keeping the Round Rock Campus running smoothly is nothing short of extraordinary. With nearly 20 years of service, he has become the backbone of the campus, ensuring that students, faculty, and staff have a safe and comfortable environment every day.
A One-Man Powerhouse
If you have ever set foot on the Round Rock Campus, you have likely benefited from John’s hard work, whether you realized it or not. Known for his exceptional work ethic and leadership, John consistently goes above and beyond his job duties. Despite a short-handed team, he never lets anything slip through the cracks. Need HVAC support? John is on it. Electrical repairs? He is already fixing it. Signage for an event? Consider it done.
His colleagues even joke that there must be two of him because of how much he accomplishes in a day. One nomination put it best: “It’s incredible that one human can do all that he does to keep our campus running.”
Dedication Beyond the Job Description
John’s commitment does not end when the workday does. When a flood hit the Avery building over a holiday break, John did not hesitate. He came in on New Year’s Eve to help with cleanup and minimize damage.
His deep care for the campus community shines through in everything he does. As one colleague shared, “He listens intently to those requesting his assistance and pays great attention to detail to make sure he ensures a great experience for all RRC patrons.”
What Drives John?
For John, success is the biggest motivator. “Success motivates me to do a good job,” he shares. He also enjoys working with a great team across the Round Rock and San Marcos campuses whenever needed.
Advice for New Employees
John leads by example, proving that hard work and customer service make all the difference. His impact on campus is a testament to the value of dedication, teamwork, and taking pride in your work.
Life Beyond Work
When he is not making the Round Rock Campus the best it can be, you can find John playing slow-pitch softball or grabbing a bite at one of his favorite spots. He enjoys any fried chicken place in the area or Tio Dan’s.
