Staff Development Day Recap

And just like that, after months of planning and brainstorming, our first-ever Staff Development Day has come and gone. We enjoyed:

-367 total participants

-20 presenters

-14 compassion-themed presentations

-1 day full of learning, networking, and fun!

Thanks to all of our volunteers, attendees, and presenters who helped make it a success! If you weren’t able to join in, here’s how it went:

Lark Doley (former Toastmasters International President) started us off with an engaging “Compassionate Leadership” keynote presentation.

Then, we went our separate ways (down the halls of LBJ) to enjoy concurrent sessions like “Compassionate Policing at TXST”, presented by UPD Chief Matt Carmichael!

We made our way back to the LBJSC Grand Ballroom to chat with President’s Cabinet to learn how they’re “Leading with Compassion at TXST”.

After a much-needed catered lunch break (thanks, Chartwells!), we spent the rest of the afternoon back at the office enjoying virtual sessions such as “Hear for Your Health” and “Compassion for Others Begins with Compassion for Self”. To wrap up the day, Noel Fuller hosted an open forum session for everyone to share their thoughts and key takeaways.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this event a success!

Did you miss out on the fun? Wish you could re-watch a presentation? We’ve got you covered! Head over to our Staff Development Day website to find presentation slides and recordings from the day.

Next year’s Staff Development Day will be here before you know it, but in the meantime, we’ll be brainstorming more exciting events to bring to campus in the near feature. Stay tuned!
