Evette Hernandez uses her 18 years of TXST work experience to support the School of Family & Consumer Sciences and the Child Development Center.
Though her official job title is budget assistant, Evette is always willing to lend a helping hand wherever and whenever needed.
During a recent period of unexpected turnover, Evette took on additional responsibilities including handling IT requests, providing hiring assistance, and coordinating travel to ensure daily functions for the School of FCS and the Child Development Center operated seamlessly.

Q: What workplace achievement or accomplishment are you most proud of?
“Having the ability to work here at TXST for so many years and being recognized to receive this award is something I’m truly proud of!”
Q: What do you enjoy the most about being a Bobcat employee?
“What I enjoy the most is assisting our faculty, staff, and students with day-to-day questions. They could range from budget related questions to how to schedule an advising appointment. If I’m able to help those individuals out when they leave our office, it makes what I do so worth it.”
Q: What are you most known for in your department? How would your colleagues describe you?
“Something I’m most known for is being the go-to person when needing to find information. I’m willing to lend a hand and be ready to take on any tasks with a positive attitude. Working for Texas State for 18 years does help a bit to know who to contact for certain questions.”
Q: What’s your favorite hobby or activity outside of the workplace?
“I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, especially with my grandson and granddaughter!”
Q: What’s something you think more people should know about working at TXST?
“The camaraderie you develop with people you work with on a daily basis allows you to grow and come together as a team to achieve any obstacle that comes your way. When you work for the Bobcat community, it gives you a sense of pride that you work for an institution that is dedicated to your goals & achievements!”
