What better way to reach out and reconnect with your peers than with a little friendly competition? 6-legged racing, “Bosu Basketball”, and “Impossible Volleyball” were just a few of the activities folks enjoyed on July 28 at our first-ever Bobcat R.O.A.R.!
Eighteen teams competed in six different games resulting in countless unforgettable moments.
If you missed out on the big showdown, we’ve got you covered! Read below for a play-by-play recap.
At 9:30 a.m., teams started trickling in to Jowers gym 101, decked out in their game day uniforms. Some wore matching bandanas, others wore customized neon T-shirts, some even wore maroon and gold tutus…yes, tutus!
As if the uniforms weren’t creative enough, employees came up with some clever (and hilarious) team names such as “Run Like The Winded”, “Lib-ROAR-ians” and our favorite: “Just Happy To Be Here”.
In true WellCats fashion, WellCats leaders got us loosened up with a zumba-esque pre-game warm up.
Once everyone was ready to go, teams went to their appropriate game stations and then…game on! Bobcats spent the rest of the event hitting home runs with pool noodles, fumbling and stumbling through relay races, and playing hockey with beach balls.
After the games wrapped up, we reconvened in Gym 101 to see which squad would take home the heralded Bobcat R.O.A.R. torch. TXST leadership did the honors of awarding the bronze, silver, and gold medals. Congratulations to the following teams for their performances in our inaugural Bobcat R.O.A.R. games!
3rd Place: The Division of Marketing & Communications, AKA “Run DMC”… (get it?)
2nd Place: “We Tried”
1st Place: “Team kNOw”
Special thanks to Athletics, Health & Human Performance, IT, Campus Recreation, and WellCats for helping bring this event to life! Keep your eyes on the Bobcat R.O.A.R. website for more pictures and videos from the event.
