This November, Bobcat employees donned their (real or fake) mustaches and met up for photos at the San Marcos and Round Rock campuses. A few wild mustaches were spotted in random locations around campus as well!
So…what’s with all the mustaches?
The kitschy mustache theme is fun conversation starter, but it carries an important message: men’s health issues often slip through the cracks, and we need to talk about it.
“Movember”, taking place every November during Men’s Health Awareness Month, is a charity campaign that champions men’s health by focusing on three of the top health concerns affecting men: prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and mental health and suicide prevention. Coinciding with “No Shave November”, the Movember movement encourages men to grow their mustaches (or “mo’s”, for short) to help get men talking about their health.
But the Movember movement isn’t just for men! Improving men’s health can have a positive impact on everyone in their lives. Raising awareness can start important conversations that could save a father, son, brother, friend, partner, or coworker. Each week on the WellCats Teams Channel we shared information and resources related to men’s health concerns, and we were proud to see so many Bobcat employees turn out to show their support!
Even though Movember is coming to a close, let’s continue to generate powerful and potentially life-saving conversations about the health and well-being of the men in our lives.
