2022 Year in Review

And just like that, we’re in the final stretch of 2022. But before the ball drops and we start focusing on our 2023 goals, we thought we’d take a glance in the rear view mirror to highlight the milestones and goals that were reached over the past year.

Here’s a recap of what we accomplished together in 2022:

January

Employees across campus started the year walking, dancing, and doing other fun activities as part of the state-wide GetFitTexas Challenge. Spoiler Alert: GetFitTexas 2023 is right around the corner, so get your tennis shoes ready!

April

We kept counting our steps and formed cleverly-named teams (i.e.”The Quaranqueenies”) with our colleagues for the Spring Into Motion challenge. Collectively, Bobcats took over 5 billion steps (no, seriously) throughout the month-long challenge. April’s free Student Rec Center membership trial for employees certainly helped!

May

For National Mental Health Awareness month, we launched a #StigmaFreeTXST campaign to shine light on the mental health resources available on campus. This initiative reminded us all that compassion (for yourself and others) is a key element to maintaining a stigma-free community. On the note of compassion…

We hosted our first-ever Staff Development Day on May 24! We enjoyed a keynote presentation, fun breakout sessions, and an interactive President’s Cabinet panel to learn all about how to show compassion at work and at home.

July

HR Forum got a bit of a makeover and was renamed HR Connections. The biggest change? The event is now open to the entire campus community, just like the free snow cones we had later in the month from Kona Ice!

August

What better way to end the fiscal year than by honoring each Employee of the Month winner with a fancy lunch? We celebrated with President Damphousse, Divisional VPs, and other TXST leaders at the Employee of the Year Luncheon where Jonathan Hernandez was chosen as Employee of the Year!

September

We welcomed the first cohort into our new Leadership Essentials Certificate Program which includes a team-building trip to University Camp. Who knew yarn, tennis balls, and wooden planks could teach communication and problem-solving skills?

October

The TXST and San Marcos community walked, jogged, and even sprinted across campus (and back!) for our first-ever World Mental Health Day 5K.  The hills and inclines put up a tough fight against our runners, but the water bottles and sports drinks at the finish line didn’t stand a chance.

December

We ended the semester hosting Cocoa with Boko! Because who doesn’t love cookies, hot chocolate, and a free photo-op with Boko? President Damphousse surely does!

Our HR team appreciates everyone who helped bring these fun events and projects to life. We’re looking forward to a productive and exciting 2023. Stay tuned!
