On March 1st, 2024, we celebrated National Employee Appreciation Day at our aptly named event: “Let’s Taco ‘Bout How Great You Are”. We wanted to show our gratitude to all faculty, staff, and student employees who contribute their time and effort to Texas State University.
Tacos, especially breakfast tacos in central Texas, are universally loved (and for good reason!). After the incredible turnout at last year’s taco-themed event, we knew we had to take it to the next level. Picture this: Jones Dining Center transformed into epic build-your-own breakfast taco buffet (Thanks Chartwells!). Our spread, featuring a mix of potato and egg, chorizo and egg, savory beans, and the classic combo of cheese and salsa, had taste buds doing the happy dance. Who knew gratitude could taste this good?
In addition to tacos, our friends on the Well-Being team introduced a fun and interactive element to the event with the “Fender Blender” blender bike, which was used to make smoothies. Volunteering employees pedaled the bike, causing the attached blender to spin and allowing them to create their own delicious smoothies. It was like a mini workout session with a delicious reward – talk about multitasking at its finest!
To all our fantastic employees: You’re the salsa to our taco, the blend to our smoothie, the heart of our university. Thank you for pouring your passion and dedication into everything you do.
